What is voting by mail?
Voting by mail allows you to vote remotely without having to visit a polling station in person.
Your state will mail a ballot to the address where you are registered to vote. You then fill out and complete the ballot according to the instructions.
After you’ve completed your ballot, simply place it in the return envelop provided. Postage is typically already paid for, so you just need to return it to any mailbox before your state’s voting deadline. States have different policies regarding voting by mail, so it is important to check with your state to know the official deadlines and restrictions.

Step 1
Register for an absentee (mail-in) ballot
While registering to vote, you can opt in to “mail-in ballot” or “absentee ballot”. These terms both mean the same thing: that your state will mail a ballot to your address for you to vote from home.

Step 2
While registering, select ‘absentee’ or mail-in voting
